a5c7b9f00b A Chicago-based wizard works as a private investigator. I thought the fundamentals of Harry's character were kept, but the massive change in detail left me with the feeling that the only thing the show creators really wanted was the idea, not the world of Harry Dresden. The show was good, but I was distracted by Murphy not being a blonde and having been previously married; the changing of Harry's past so he was trained by his evil uncle; Harry having electricity at his apartment/office; and finally (for this review anyway) where was Harry's duster. On the other hand, I liked how the producers dealt with Bob's interactions with Harry. While a talking skull works well in the books, it's not something that would translate well to TV. Giving him a ghostly body was a good idea. Overall an 8 out of 10. If you come to this TV series expecting to see the books brought to life, you will be disappointed. If you come to it expecting a clever and entertaining show, you'll find it.

The show's creators were very smart in their approach to adapting Jim Butcher's brilliant books. So often adaptations try to stick to their sources and then come up short, because the mediums of book and television are so vastly different. Changes must be made so the writers are the ones in control of the show; if you make the source material the only option, then the author would have to spend all their time on the show, leaving no time to write, which would completely miss the point.

Regarding the show itself, the characters are clever and solid, particularly Harry, Bob, and Murphy (which is good considering they are the only characters in every episode). Blackthorne is perfect as the quixotic, slightly-snarky PI wizard; Cruz plays well as Dresden's skeptic-cop foil and friend; and Mann as a once-human Bob is a wonderful sidekick, sarcastic but caring, and has a story that keeps getting more interesting.

The episodes are well-written, and while sometimes predictable, contain their fair share of surprises and twists as well. They also seem to keep getting better and better with each week. As for the magic element, it is subdued in a believably subtle way, such as Dresden using a hockey stick and drumstick as his foci, that makes it seem like this could actually be happening in present-day Chicago.

Is "Dresden Files" the greatest show ever? No. But it's a great way to spend an hour.
From the horse's mouth, during pre-production of the series:

"I'm consulting, but it's informal and largely based on the fact that Robert is a decent and friendly guy. He's sent me scripts, a copy of the series bible, and I've given him feedback and seen changes made based upon it, which was (I thought) undeniably gentlemanly (and intelligent, of course) of him.

"I like what I've seen.

"That said, Robert isn't working in a vaccuum, and if I don't get absolutely everything I want in the show, neither does he. The differences, however, are generally minor and cosmetic. Some of them are just smart, and if I'd known more about writing when I was putting the books together, I probably would have used them. That's the advantage he has approaching this as a savvy screenwriter and producer, whereas I was an unpublished wannabe.

"I like where the show is (currently) going, and I've been called by the studio to see if I'd be willing to work with the writers a little more. I am (provided I don't get too much more work pressure, ugh). We'll see if I actually go out and talk with them, read scripts, what have you. I'd love to help. I'll also understand if they don't want the novelist-creator cramping professional scriptwriters' styles and making their jobs harder.

"It's out of my control, although arguably I'm not utterly unable to influence matters, and I can handle that. I'd love to help it be the best show it can, and I'll be happy to shoot my mouth off if someone wants my opinion. But then, who isn't.

"Hell, if they wanted me to, I'd be happy to write (or help write) a script. That would probably be a case of some poor intern carrying my weight, but what's life for if not to try new things!"

(taken from Jim Butcher's board on his website)For continuity purposes it's been advised to watch the show in original shooting order which goes as follows…

Storm Front, the Seven Nights in Japan full movie in hindi free download hdThe Fighting McLains torrentLongmire movie in hindi dubbed downloadBravo Virtuoso telugu full movie downloadMidwife tamil dubbed movie free downloadtamil movie dubbed in hindi free download ReprogramGolden Boy vs. Killing song free downloadAlphas hd mp4 downloadSound of Tears tamil dubbed movie torrentdownload Better Luck Next Time
